Apples Snow Leopard promises System Wide support for COLLADA

On the Apple OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Enhancements and Refinements page, under System Wide Digital Asset Exchange support there is a easily overlooked mention of COLLADA. Users of COLLADA and the file format .dae will be please to see that Preview, OS X's lightway graphic viewer application, will display .dae files with OpenGL-powered 3D graphics. Apple to release Snow Leopard with OpenCL in September 2009

Apple announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) today, they would be releasing the next generation of operating system 'Snow Leopard' this coming September. Included in this major upgrade is the new OpenCL API.

NVIDIA to host the first GPU Technology Conference

NVIDIA Corporation announced that its inaugural GPU Technology Conference will take place September 30 to October 2, 2009. The event will focus on how developers, engineers, and researchers are using the GPU to solve the world’s most important computing challenges. The conference will encompass three simultaneous events -- the Emerging Companies Summit, the GPU Developer Summit, and the NVIDIA Research Summit. Speaker schedule for Khronos Sessions at Multicore EXPO posted

Khronos has posted their speaking schedule for the Multicore EXPO on March 16th. Speakers from NVIDIA, Codeplay, Nokia, ARM and Imagination Technologies will be present, with a question and answer period and demo's. Khronos will cover two areas of our standards development: OpenCL and the Khronos "Handheld API Ecosystem".

Khronos Group DevU at GDC09

The Khronos Group has announced that it will hold a DevU tutorial at this years Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. The Khronos DevU will cover four major topics: OpenCL, OpenGL, COLLADA, and the Khronos “Mobile API Ecosystem. This will be an all day event held on Tuesday March 24 2009 in partnership with the GDC 2009. Admittance to the session is available to all registered Mobile GDC and regular GDC conference attendees.
